Rachel Kunemund is currently pursuing her PhD in Special Education and Disability Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to beginning the doctoral program she taught for four years at the Faison School for Autism. Throughout her time teaching she worked with preschool, elementary, and middle school aged students on both academic and behavioral skills. She worked with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to help create both individualized education plans and individualized behavior interventions. Using these behavioral interventions in the classroom she aimed to help students achieve higher levels of independence and academic success. While teaching in her regular classroom Rachel also worked with a behavior analyst to help create a pilot version of an inclusive early intervention classroom using applied behavior analysis.

During her time in the classroom Rachel also completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disorders (LEND) program through Virginia Commonwealth University. While in the LEND program she presented a poster on specific academic interventions in the classroom for children with Autism using observational learning strategies. Rachel received her M.Ed. in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
